Why Manna

Manna was special food (bread from heaven) miraculously provided for the Israelites during their 40 years in the wilderness. 

It is first mentioned in the Scripture in Ex. 16:4: “Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day & gather enough for that day...”’ 

Verse. 31 says, “The people of Israel called the bread manna...”

The manna that God provided symbolised contentment, satisfaction and sufficiency. 

The New Testament portrays Jesus as the Bread of Life that came down from heaven (Jn. 6:30-35, 48-51)
